The United States has two goals that aim to involve all people including the disabled in national building and to preserve democracy for all. The two goals are to ensure democracy for all people in the nation despite their disabilities or abilities, and to ensure that all have the chance of contributing to the building of the national economy. The United States aims to achieve these goals through providing education to the youth and helping them in the transition from school life to adulthood using the education institutes that provide transition skills so that by the time they are out of school, they will be ready to serve the nation. This way, the United States aims to have a smooth transition of work from the retiring to the incoming young adults. The transition eliminates a gap that could arise between the older generation and young generations if transition does not occur, and to some extent, there could be a disruption when the old have to leave jobs to young adults who are not fully aware of their roles in the society. Therefore, transition is crucial to the smooth continuity of responsibilities and roles from elders to the middle age and the young generations that come with new ideas.

Participation in national building ensures continued growth as ideas from all people are brought together, and new ideas keep flowing. The aim of involving all people including the disadvantaged and disabled or economically disadvantaged ensures that no child is left without education, and offering knowledge to all empowers the national economy. With knowledge to the citizens of any nation, innovations tend to be high due to incorporation of many ideas between all generations, and through education. It is therefore important to note that United States is the most advanced nation in technology and economy, which can be attributed to high level of education among its citizen, and their participation in national building.

From Self- Determination Theory, what do you think about this theory’s benefits that make people subscribe?

Self-Determination Theory suggests four ideas, which analyze issues that contribute to the motivation of a person. They are effects of the social background and situations that affect the inspiration of an individual, how experiences are perceived by the individual as well as how they play part in contributing to self-drive or motivation of a person. The others are differences among individuals that affect the self-determination of a person, and finally, it addresses how people are shaped by their basic needs, driving them towards a determination. Since the theory is about how the young people have a natural propensity to grow themselves intellectually, is an advantage or benefit that provides the teacher with a chance to support the young people according to what motivates them to participate in various activities. The transition educators can manage to use the self-determination of the young adults to help them understand the roles they may have to play in the society after school, according to what motivates them.

How laws promoted or hindered transition services and practices?

Several laws in the united states supports the transition services through providing that agencies of transition team up with schools and work together with teachers in transitioning the young generation from the school life to working life. For instance, the American disability act and transition to postsecondary institutions provides that all disabled persons have equal right to access education and employment. It is quite clear that this act acts to support the transition for the disables equally as normal persons. The postsecondary institutions are required to provide support in colleges and universities to students. Moreover, the Americans act and transition to employment provides that no employee should be discriminated, and all people should be offered equal opportunities, and accorded with assistance to fit in their places of work. This further promotes the transition. The Carl D-Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act provides that all students are offered challenging academic standards that prepare them for highly skilled and wage positions and occupations after school, further promoting the transition.
