Political science is a course that focuses on various functions and development of government as well as its structures. Moreover, the course is also involved in the study of rulers through out history. Although there are many divisions of the same, the focus is almost the same.  Therefore, it is a course that is characterized by description, analysis as well as by prediction of the behavior of politics and political systems. More specifically, it is a science that focuses on subjective interpretation other than on other types of data. Bent on that, this paper explains why someone is interested in enrolling for a master’s degree in the same course.

Studying a master’s degree offers someone an opportunity to focus on a specific area in the filed and therefore, become more knowledgeable on the same. For instance, if someone chooses to study political analysis, one gets an opportunity to analyze political structures, behaviors, ideas as well as institutions. Focusing on a specific area is very important because it gives someone an opportunity to explore a particular field more comprehensively.  It is quite interesting especially for a person who may have made various observations concerning political science like repetitive cycles of   politics, economics and swings of political pendulums.  Therefore, it is quite interesting to study on the political processes that are present in the society which helps a person not only to understand the reason behind their occurrence, but also in forecasting of what may take place in future.

Political science is a course that affects people in their daily lives in all places, be it homes, schools, work places, voluntary associations and virtually everywhere.  Moreover, the course in political science involves power relations, a subject that is very vital since it affects not only the political climate, but also the peace of a particular region.  Given that political science affects all institutions in the society, studying it at a master’s level is not only rewarding but also empowering.  Moreover, an aspiring politician may be interested in getting more knowledge on politics which may contribute to more success in the career.

Apart from gaining knowledge, getting a masters degree in political science may improve someone chances in getting a rewarding job in government, law, private, consultancy and public administration sectors.  Although a degree is important, a master’s degree is more important because it increases knowledge. With the high level of education, one is able to increase output which increases someone’s opportunities of getting a promotion or a better pay.  Therefore, people in job or looking for employment may be interested in pursuing masters in order to become more marketable.

Importance of studying political science cannot be overemphasized. This is due to the fact that the knowledge gained can be applied to minimize or reduce the occurrence of a political deadlock which is often characterized by either trade or political wars.  The current world is characterized by such issues and the same leads to much loss of not only property, but also human life (Hay pp.70). Therefore, it is clear that an interest of pursuing a master’s degree may be as a result of various factors closely tied to the benefits of studying political science.
