Marriage equality( same-sex marriage)

First of all, it is not for an english class, it is for fundamentals of speech class.

It has to be a persuasive speech – marriage equality. Saying that I agree with same-sex couple, that they have to have civil rights as we all have, on getting married, freedom to love their loved one and all these.

I have an specific structure for the persuasive speech, called: Monroe’s Motivated Sequence. It was given by my professor.

The sequence contains five distinct steps:

Introduction: Attention Step- Are you listening? We have a major problem here! Be sure to establish credibility and goodwill, present thesis, and motivate us to listen.

I. MAin Point: Need Step- I’ll now explain the problem to you, do you understand the problem?
example: talk about the problems that happen regarding to this, like discrimination(people killing gays and lesbians because they want to get married)

II. Satisfaction Step- But, you know, we can solve this problem!
Example: have to talk about a solution for that, like explaining that it has to be legal in the world

III. Visualization Step- If we solve the problem our world will be improved and it will look like this and/or if not, or world will be affected this way?
Example: explain how would the world look if it was legal

Conclusion: Action step, you can make a difference and this is how. Now, go out and do it! Be sure to signal the end of the speech, restate your thesis, and leave your audience with something to think about.
