In essence, many people believe that changing the diet is difficult, thus lack the willpower to make a dramatic change of eating a healthy diet. Indeed, dieting requires one to have a strong drive of eating right even when it is difficult to do so. I must admit that my willpower made the difference in my healthy eating lifestyle.

Last year, I established the need of eating a healthy diet and made a commitment towards the plan. This decision was not easy as there was a conflict between eating unhealthy diet and eating a healthy diet. Part of me wanted to eat a healthy diet, but part of me wanted to get the emotional benefits that unhealthy food gives. My journey to living a healthy lifestyle instigated after watching unhealthy, young adults, and obese people struggling to perform daily activities such as walking. Indeed, these people brought me to the realization of health eating  and its importance. They created a platform for me to understand the effects  of obesity issues such as delayed menstruation for women, heart diseases, breathing problems, loss of muscles, weakened bones, and diabetes (Michaels & Aalst, 2009). Still, the fact that my dad has diabetes and my mum survived breast cancer puts me at risk of getting such diseases. With this, I came to the conclusion of eating a heathy diet and exercising regularly to eradicate the risk of getting diabetes and cancer. With no doubt, this experience has created a platform to crave for a healthy eating lifestyle that would augment a positive and a long life.

The first week I decided to cut down salt, which was a core problem in my eating habits. The next week I purposed to deter fatty food little by little in my diet, and the third week I purposed to drink a lot of water. This journey was not easy as often I was uncomfortable with my physical sensation. Prior to dieting, I preferred fatty foods to unfatty foods. With this, it was difficult to make the difference in my performance. However, I was determined to work hard to improve my eating habits regardless of any obstacle. This changed my emotional sensation to resist short-term temptations and achieve the long term goals of living a healthy lifestyle (Ogden, 2010). I have been trying to avoid anything that puts my life at risk such as my addiction to tanning salons. I am determined to work towards the plan of living a healthy lifestyle.

In my life, I have evaluated 3 positive and negative sources of energy both in my performance and general daily experiences. The three positive sources include working and planning for my goal completion, meditating about my future, and embracing every opportunity that comes in my life. On a daily basis, I work hard to plan my goals and their completion, which motivate me to live life to the fullest. This is evident in my personal experience of a healthy eating lifestyle when I made a choice to cut salty and fatty foods in my diet. Although it was not easy to work towards the plan, I purposed to plan for my goals completion. I must admit that I am who I am today because of having a positive meditation about my future. I believe that I can be who I want to be no matter the obstacles I encounter. This has been the greatest source of energy in my daily experiences such as dieting. While setting the plan, I meditated about my future free from the effects that emerge from eating an unhealthy diet. This motivated me to do what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle free from diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, and high blood pressure just to name a few. On a daily basis, I embrace every opportunity that comes in my life. For instance, I ensure that am eating the right diet, exercise regularly, and drinking plenty of water. With this regard, this has enhanced the positive change I have always desired to have.

The negative sources include self-blame and guilt, fear of failure, and perfectionism. Often, I am guilty for not achieving the intended goals and this creates the fear of failure. I believe in perfectionism and this hinders me from achieving my intended goals. For instance, it took time for me to believe that I was improving in my eating habits. A times, I felt discouraged by the fact that the change was gradual.

I must admit that, I have a growth mindset in that I believe that one can acquire intelligence regardless of any obstacle. This explains why I have a strong desire to improve in every aspect of my life. In my opinion, the concept of a growth mindset is amazing as it dictates and define the road to success. In facts, the road to success is not limited to what we do, but by what we think or believe we can do. With a growth mindset, I believe that I can accomplish everything that I set my mind to. For instance, although I struggle in my daily performance of eating a healthy diet, I believed that I had what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle. With this in mind, I embraced every challenge and believed that I could only be better by eating right.

The main question that lingers for many is on how one can improve a growth mindset. In this case, I have discussed how I have embraced every challenge and believed that one day I will come out better and stronger. I have persisted in the face of criticism and discouragement and understood that failure is a great opportunity to learn. I have found inspirations and lessons in the achievement of others. With this, I believe that a growth mindset individual should walk in the same journey to improve his talents, gifting, and capabilities.
