A youth center wants to improve the family life for teenagers at risk for violence. A program that is being implemented is a type of therapy called Functional Family Therapy. To assess the effectiveness of this type of therapy in reducing violence among youth, two youth centers are selected. One center provides Functional Family Therapy for the families of kids that have been at the youth center and are being released back into the care of their parents and the other your center continues their standard practice of follow-up and brief counseling of parents. For each teenager that is released to his or her family, data is collected on the number of violent encounters with other kids, with the law, and with other family members for a period of one month prior to and after the treatment program that was received. The following four outcomes are possible. Graph each outcome, state whether the treatment appears effective, and then identify the rival hypothesis that might explain the observed effect.
