Theology 200 – The Christian Tradition
Response Paper One
Three response papers will be written and turned in to the professor through the course of the semester. These are due on the days designated in the syllabus and must be submitted on time. The first two papers are 2 to 3 pages in length, typed, double-spaced. The final paper will be a longer and more constructive paper. Each paper will use some of the course reading to respond to the topic listed below.
Write a paper which reflects your understanding of the relation between Christian views of creation and the way that Christians based on these views think about religious pluralism. We have talked about the way Christians think about God and creation and how this may shape the way Christians talk about the issues of cultural diversity. This assignment assumes that the student will describe as best as possible what this Christian view might be using the authors we have read. Perhaps the student will agree with what has been a Christian view and perhaps not. The paper will be evaluated not on whether the student agrees with Christian views but rather to what extent the student understands those views (based on a close reading of the course materials) and is able to express them clearly in this brief paper. Remember that it is essential to use the course materials as they apply. This is not a research paper and will not involve looking for sources other than what we have been reading for class. Please do not use sources from the Bible or elsewhere other than the course texts to write this paper!
