OK everyone, so here is the skinny on the Final Exam. It is broken into two parts and you will need to go to two places in Blackboard to complete it. There are also two due dates that you must adhere to for the test. For part one you all will be doing one short five paragraph essay from a prompt we have provided for you. To access this part of the test go to the Assignments link in Blackboard and follow the instructions i.e. Read “A Negro Leader Explains Why Colored Men Fought for America, 1919” (Chapter 6, Document 7 of your primary documents reader) and using the essay as a springboard for discussion; write a five paragraph essay in which you discuss at least at least three reasons why black men’s commitment to fighting for the United States was a remarkable act of social responsibility. By “Social responsibility” we mean an ethical framework that suggests that an individual, organization, or entity has an obligation to act for the benefit of society at large. Your essay should contain an introduction (one paragraph), body (three paragraphs), and conclusion (one paragraph) and should include evidence from the given text. After you have completed your essay, please grade it using the following rubric: (4) if you think you got an A (90-100) on the essay; (3) if you think your got a B (80-89) on the essay; (2) if you think your got a C (70-79) on the essay; and (1) if you think you got a D/F (60-60 or 1-59) on the essay. Yes, you are self grading this essay. At the top of your essay write in bold print the number you think you got for your essay prior to submitting it. This is a “SafeAssign” assignment so it will check for plagiarism. The essay is available now and we want you all to complete it before 1:00pm on Monday, May 9th.
