Ethical Analysis Paper on Coors

Ethical Analysis AssignmentI would like to do the assignment on Coors for I am in Colorado and told my professor I would write about there both good and bad ethical practices. For this assignment you will select a company to research and analyze and then will write a 5-7 page paper that compares and contrasts data that you gather about the company’s practices and their public presentation. You will examine information such as the mission statement, company advertising, and their overall web presence to determine how that company wishes to be perceived. You will compare and contrast this with data that you gather about actual company practices—labor practices, hiring, equity issues, environmental issues, and/or anything that supports or undermines their public presentation. It is important to include any credible, critical information to avoid having a paper that sounds like advertising copy for the company. It will be necessary to use and correctly cite external sources, including company documents, newspaper and/or journal analysis of practices, government data, etc. Use APA or MLA as your citation style, and be sure to include both in-text and end citations. The Purdue OWL, which is linked from the home page, is a good resource for citation information. If you use a citation generator just be sure to double check things like title capitalization, which is rarely fixed by generators. Use of visual data representations, photos, video, and external links will be essential to examine company advertising. An easy example of how this would work would be an analysis of British Petroleum (BP). In the wake of environmental disasters BP has been attempting to create a more eco-friendly persona in their advertising and web presence. For the analysis, you would provide the background about the company, including controversies and some history, and then look at current company media representations (advertisements, social media, etc.). You would analyze how the public presentation is supported by or undermined by real-world practices. Use specific examples and credible sources to back up your analysis.Avoid companies that have already been analyzed to death regarding their ethical practices, such as Walmart, Nike, and McDonald\’s. Pick a company that has recently been newsworthy, either for scandal and/or for doing positive work. Local and regional businesses can also work well for this analysis. To remain objective, do not pick a business with which you have a personal, family, or professional connection.I grade these based on quality of research and analysis, level of detail, and complexity of approach. This means that a paper that goes beyond superficial, fairly evident analysis will earn a higher grade. Inclusion of credible research that is correctly cited will also influence the grade. While the analysis should maintain a goal of general objectivity, your opinion will play an important role in the conclusions that you draw. Just make sure you back up your opinions with evidence. For instance, if you make a claim that Costco is not as labor-friendly as it self-presents, back it up with some credible data.Basics: Include a clear and objective title. Use subtitle headings if desired. Include a Works Cited (for MLA) or References (for APA) page that is labeled as such. Include in-text citations for all direct quotes, statistics, implied statistics, visual representations of data, images, summary from other sources, or paraphrasing.
