Task:
Learners will, first, provide a review of each of the 3 articles separately. You will read and summarize each article to inform the reader on what the author(s) researched and concluded. You will summarize this including in-text citations denoting where in the article you obtained the research you are referring to through the use of APA formatted in-text citations which will include the page/paragraph numbers for each piece of sourced information; this is for easy reference for the reader.
Learners will complete a matrix that summarizes the authors opinions on the issues covered in each article. The matrix template will be available on the course website and will serve as the basis for thinking critically about each article. The completed matrix is to be attached as an APA formatted Appendix to the paper. The matrix will be evaluated on the basis of strong analysis of the articles, completeness, and concision. Bullet points may be used in this exercise for brevity and concision.
Learners will also complete a Summary/Analysis of the 3 articles in the text of the paper (following the 3rd article review) using the Matrix as guide.
Learners will also advise on Literature Gaps (what is not researched on the topic) following the Summary/Analysis. Please see posted examples in Moodle for guidance.
The paper will be evaluated on 1) the analysis and presentation of the main points of the articles (each article review), 2) the reflection on how the arguments in each article relate to the arguments in the other articles (the Summary/Analysis), 3) the provision of Literature Gaps, 4) the completed Matrix as Appendix, 5) the correct use of APA style in citing sources, and 6) general writing issues such as presentation of the graphic surface, grammar, punctuation, and clarity and concision in English writing skills.
Word count is between 1500-1600 words, not including the Matrix. You will include a Cover page, a Table of Contents page, a References page, and an Appendix page (the Matrix).
