Autoethnography Paper

This paper situates yourself within an identifiable culture (In this particular case Latino culture)and discusses how your identify fits into the specific culture. Your short auto ethnography will describe and explain a specific cultural issue of interest to an outside audience and will use specific examples and experiences to illuminate how and why you fit into your culture and how your issue illustrates what it means to understand Latino culture. As you may have noticed, the guidelines for your writing your auto ethnography are a bit vague and not as specific as is typically given. The reason for having the guidelines as they are presented is so that you (as the writer) may have freedom and flexibility to discuss any topic in any way that you would like.As an example of what you may want to discuss any of the following issues:(Note. Anything that you would like to discuss that is of a personal experience would be adequate for this auto ethnography)• Conflicts you might have experienced as part of the culture• Stereotype(s) of your culture and your action/response to said stereotype(s)• Language use associated with a culturally specific group or event Highly important note: To write your auto ethnography, it is NOT a requirement to be Latino or be apart of Latino culture (some of you may not feel that you are part of Latino culture or identify as a Latino). General Writing Guidelines & Rubric As with any paper that is to be written in an upper level university course, your paper should consist the following basic elements:• There has a central focus/claim of the auto ethnography (3.5 pts)• There is a brief, yet good introduction and conclusion (1 pt)• The paper has solid organization and flow with working paragraph structure (1 pt)• This paper has self-reflective commentary, analysis and critical thought (3.5 pts)• This paper is generally free from any disruptive sentence level issues (e.g., Grammatical issues, spelling, etc.) (1 pt)Reflections should be typed, double spaced, and between 1 to 1½ pages in length.
