Baudrillard’s world of simulation
My experience of taking online classes
I found the online classes experience as somewhat different from the conventional classes in that events were proceeding at my pace rather than that of the teacher. This is because I am the one who decided when the best time to study the provided materials was. This allowed me to study at a time when my mind was operating at the optimal level. The presentation of tutorials however mirrored the teaching approaches used by teachers (Bauldrilldard, 2005). This is because like in a real classroom, the intensity of the subject increased gradually with constant back and forth movements through the provided exercises that were meant to reinforce the principles being taught. Save for the aspect of the human element being omitted, the online classes experience worked almost as effectively as normal teaching given that the inclusion of relevant multimedia elements compensated for the absence of a human instructor.
Pros and Cons of Classroom learning
The main advantage of classroom learning is the fact that the presence of other students will serve as a motivator of the student. Furthermore, the traditional classroom provides an opportunity for the student’s unique needs and queries to be addressed by the tutor.
The main con of the traditional classroom experience is that the scheduling may at times inconvenience the student perhaps due to concentration spans or otherwise.
Pros and Cons of Online learning
The key benefit of online learning is the fact that it makes the academic content accessible to the students regardless of their geographical location. This is due to the wide reach of the internet and the fact that it can be accessed from a variety of platforms.
The challenge with online learning is the fact that the learner can easily get demotivated due to the reduced level of accountability.
