Congruency

Congruency

The justice system in every civilized country is responsible for bringing integrity to the society. This obligation is mandated to both employed and elected justice officials who represent the views of the constitution and reflect the moral standards required by the judicial system (Zalman, 2011). Elected members of the justice system such as Judges and government officials such as the police must adhere to the moral responsibility while carrying out their duties. Because of this, congruency is necessary to ensure that the moral standards are reflected throughout the government (Zalman, 2011).

The judges offer the final verdict on cases during a prosecution in court. It is their responsibility to ensure that the moral high ground is maintained while prosecuting civilians to ensure that innocent citizens are not punished. They disregard the defendant’s testimonies because they believe that every defendant is guilty. At this point, the judge has to compare the statements offered by the police and the defendant’s testament. Innocent people may be punished as a result of police perjury which is widely practiced and ignored. The honest and moral behavior expected of the police has been abused by police perjury over the years. In fact, Zalman (2011) observes that this behavior is now considered moral.

Police perjury hence causes a serious incongruence in justice system because this may cause injustice the very institution that is supposed to provide justice (Zalman, 2011). In my point of view, it is necessary for all sections of the government to be congruent in order to provide just decisions and to avoid injustice. It is very wrong for the police to lie because his or her testament is considered correct and moral. Government officials should live up to the moral obligations required of them.
