Part 1 [100 pts.]
Select a simple product of your choice. Product should be composed of no more than 5-10 parts/components. First, submit your top three choices to the course instructor for acceptance. Only after receiving confirmation you may proceed further.
Analyze different design and manufacturing considerations such as materials, processes, dimensions, functions, etc. that you think is critical for taking manufacturing decisions for the parts in your product.

Submit a 4-5 pages report (electronic file) by the due date via the course website.
The report should be in the following format: Introduction to the product, its function and use. Estimate market size. Product’s main parts and assemblies. Provide a sketch, figure or image of the product. Describe design consideration for each component – (see item 2 above) Describe manufacturing processes used in producing the selected parts List of references if applicable.
Note: If your product consists of more than 10 parts, select only 10 most important components.
