This is an individual homework to make you think about to demonstrate problems of an existing user interface by using a data flow diagram. Choose a software application that you do not like. Draw a flow model that demonstrates the problems with the relevant software application (desktop or mobile). Please go over flow model examples pdf document for some examples. There are two important symbols that we use when demonstrating a problem in a flow model:
(): The red lightning bolt represents a barrier. For instance, system crashes.
(N): The red N represents an unmet information need. For instance, the user needs a certain piece of information to make a decision, but the system does not provide that information. Please check examples 2 and 3 in the flow models examples pdf document for details.
Grading Rubric:
1. Draw a flow model with () and (N) symbols to demonstrate problems in the software application that you chose (40 points) 2. Write a paragraph below the flow model to explain the process and problems you identified in your flow model. How do these problems impact usability, usefulness, and emotional impact? (40 points) 3.
