Initially, telecommunications involved use of visual signals to transfer information from one point to another. Currently, due to development of technology, communication has been made much easier and effective due to the use of electronic means of communication. Services offered by telecommunication such as e-mail, faxing and telephoning are very effective means of communication since they are not only reliable by help greatly in minimizing the effect of geographical distance which was initially an obstacle in communication. Telecommunication is very essential especially in business world as it has led to the development of electronic commerce. For the world to be connected, communication is very important as it enhances the transfer of information from one point to another. For every business to function effectively there is usually the need to transfer important information among the staff members and also between the managers. For instance, communication by email is very effective as it allows a person to send information to a large number of people at the same time and it also allows record keeping which act as prove of communication. In addition, the manager of an organization can give direction to his staff members without necessarily having to summon a meeting (Telecommunications and Business, 2010).
Telecommunication is very essential since it facilitates forming and maintaining international relations. Currently people in different countries and different continents can communicate easily since in the modern world, issues related to geographical barriers are made irrelevant by the current means of communication. International relations are very important especially in the business world since they allow business activities to be carried out more effectively. For instance, due electronic means of communications, companies all over the world can market their products and similarly, other companies through out the world in need of such products can still manage to buy without having necessarily to travel from one destination to another.
Proper management of information systems ensures effective distribution of data from one point to another (Telecommunications and Business, 2010). Initially, most businesses and organizations used to have a central place where data was stored and distributed from. Currently, with the use of computer technology, it is possible for businesses to distribute data quickly and there is on much need of having database centralized in one location. Since data is very important in each and every organization, fast and reliable means of telecommunication are very important because they make data distribution easier and effective.
Although telecommunication is essential in many ways, the efficiency that has resulted from the same needs no further emphasis. It has made many businesses allover the world to become more efficient especially in the view of the fact that many of them operate serially. This means that a department can only operate after receiving information from another department and the same information is passed on to the next department. It is clear that telecommunication has allowed quick transfer of information from one department to another as well as enabling all the departments to access specific important information at the same time. It is therefore clear that telecommunication helps to connect the world and the same results to immense growth.
