Intersection of Faith and Collegiate Goals
I have had a passion for the arts since I was a little child. I have always held the view that given the opportunity, I would excel at them in a college of repute. This college is one of the best in the country and a place where my dreams will be realized. I want to be the best here in order to help others who will want to base their careers in the arts.
I was brought up in a strong Christian background. With this in mind, I have always felt that I have a spiritual duty to conduct myself in a manner that embodies the spirit of Christ. I strongly believe that I am an instrument through which the message of the gospel can be passed on to others bringing them closer to the promise of eternal life. As an ambassador of Christ, I feel that I have a duty to empower others who have the desire to follow a faith-based lifestyle in their chosen career paths. One of the ways that I envision fulfilling this noble mission is through giving encouragement talks to pupils in high school in order to set them on a course that will enhance their faith in the future.
The various forums in the college that allow for Christians and non-Christians to dialogue about faith and arts are an attraction for me. I have always had the desire to be a part of artists’ forums that consider vocations in a contemporary context and thereby broaden faith-based discussions. I want to be a contributor to a broader Christian academic discourse in order to improve the institution, others and myself (Razor’s Edge, 2014).
I want to be of help to the community around me and I feel that one way I can achieve this is by successfully completing my college studies so that I can add on to the pool of knowledge in that community. As I plan to be an excellent student, I feel that the background of this college and its achievements will help mould me into a better person. Therefore, through the opportunity given to me, I believe that others will benefit.
