Personal affiliations and networking are critical in nursing leadership. Leaders in nursing share the same challenges, learning from one another has been found significant in advancing the services offered by the health care facility. Nurse leaders have managed to address modern era challenges in the health care setting as leaders grow and share experiences. The world is currently interconnected through various technologies.
Informal and formal affiliations and networks in the health care facilities have been instrumental in propelling things to be done (Gobillot, 2006). Leaders who are connected have managed to advance their careers and at the same time save on costs and energy while running the health care facilities. Personal affiliations and networks have enabled leaders in nursing to acquire new information and build a competitive edge out of the new information (Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), 2007). Leaders in the same field share experiences, which are prominent in providing timely and accurate advice based on past experiences.
Personal affiliations and networking exist everywhere as long as leaders are open to new ideas and trends in the health care setting. Opportunities to network are common with professional events and meetings (Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), 2007). Survey indicate that most of the experienced leaders in nursing are sensitive in attending national meetings, which are influential in networking with other leaders in the same capacity and industry.
Experts in the modern era are also using social networking sites in advancing personal affiliations and networking. Some of the most influential sites are Listservs, LinkedIn and Facebook. Such social networking sites has been influential in broadening the networking and personal affiliations (Gobillot, 2006).
Personal affiliations and networking are connected in building a healthy work relationship. Networking is part of active behaviors where nurse leaders are advised to connect with professionals in the same field.
