Politics in the country of Sweden

This paper is an analysis of politics in the country of Sweden. There are 5 areas of analysis listed below and each area must be covered thoroughly in the paper:
• Describe the party system of Sweden. How many parties are there and what is the range of their ideological profiles? What type of parties are they (catch-all, single issue, protest, etc)? Is the party system fairly stable or relatively unstable? For an example of an unstable party system look at Italy.
• Describe the legislative branch of Sweden. Is it a bicameral or unicameral system and why? If bicameral, what is the relative power structure between the two houses? What influence/input does it have on the creation of policy?
• Cleavages. What are the defining social cleavages in Sweden? Is there evidence of a decline of these cleavages over time? Is there an obvious connection between social cleavages and the creation of different political parties?
• Describe the electoral system in Sweden. Is there a plurality system, PR or a mixed system? Is there a threshold in place? In what ways do you see the electoral system influencing the party system in your country?
• Describe the executive. How does the executive form? Illustrate this latter point by referring to the last election. What is the relative balance of power between the executive and legislature? What role does the executive play in the creation and implementation of policy?
