After reading chapters 18 and 19 inJowett, S., & Lavelle, D. (Eds.) (2007). Social psychology in sport. Champaign, IL: Human
Kinetics. After listening to the course lectures and reading the accompanying material,
students are expected to write a paper over the general topic area (as designated in the course
outline). Information in the topic paper should include each of the sub-sections within the larger
topic area. For instance, in the “Relationships in Sport” topic paper, students should base their
paper off the content in the “Understanding the Coach-Athlete Relationship” and “Youth Peer
Relationships in Sport” subsections. The papers should provide three primary components: (a)
Summary – an overview of the content covered (30%); (b) Opinion – personal reactions to the
content (30%); and (c) Application – applying what was learned to the sport and physical activity
context (30%). Grammar accounts for the remaining 10% of the score. Each section should receive
approximately equal attention and should be clearly demarcated in the paper. Each paper should
be 500 words
