The Pelham Park Bloods

The Pelham Park Bloods

Pelham Park Bloods is one of the street gangs found in Pelham and the neighboring communities. It originated in Pelham Park Gardens housing complex that is situated in the western parts near the boundaries of Toronto, Ontario and Canada (Leap, 2012). It is a small but powerful gang that was first known as the Young Thugz. The Young Thugz was formed in the early 90’s and consisted mainly of young Caribbean and African-Canadian youths. In the late 1990’s, most of the Young Thugz members had died. Some had also been incarcerated or deported. The few survivors then started calling themselves the Pelham Park Bloods. They merged with the VR Troopers gang (Leap, 2012).

Currently, Pelham Park Bloods remains one of the most feared gangs in Pelham and its neighborhood. The gang consists of hard core criminals who have been involved in many criminal activities. The most important activity that the gang is involved in is peddling of narcotics. These narcotics are cocaine, heroin and marijuana among others.  They recruit members as young as 8 years who are then used in peddling drugs in the suburbs, schools and even rural areas.

The gang is also involved in assault, extortion and killings. Other than these crimes, the group is also deeply involved in buying and selling of firearms that are often stolen or imported from other cities and states. It has also been mentioned in brutal attacks and killings that have shocked the neighborhood in the past few years including the Pelham Park shootings. The gang has been involved in many gun battles with the police over the years. Their rivals are the Trethewey and Complex Gooch Crisps while their friendly gang is the Ardwick Blood Crew (Leap, 2012).
