Un-making terrorist

Un-making terrorist

Recruitment and training is an important undertaking in an organization. Candidates who are suitable have requisite skills and knowledge should be identified and given an opportunity.   On the other hand, identifying an individual such as terrorist for unmaking is tricky and requires use of appropriate avenues and strategies of assessment and evaluation.

It might be difficult to unmake terrorist because of the oaths, the trainings and the environments that they are used to and work in. However, efforts to unmake them should not be given up on. They are human beings and therefore can be converted into responsible members of the society and even work as informants like Abdurahman Khadr once a terror trainee. Not all people that become terrorists remain so. They can always relinquish their terrorist tendencies and convert to responsible members of the society. A terrorist that might be a good candidate for un-making can be identified through studying their history, their beliefs, and entire life.  Furthermore, their willingness to speak and express about issues of terrorism is another way of identifying potential terrorists that can be converted. This will help to understand the values of the person whether he is approachable and can be able to provide information. Afterwards, the individual should not be intimidated and threatened but should be encouraged and promised acquittal if he or she accepts to change and provide information about terrorist activities. Monetary rewards should also be provided as an encouragement to quit. They can also be transformed through guidance and counseling whereby they are taken through various sessions of   counseling. Furthermore, it requires time to establish mutual relationships before embarking on the modalities to trigger change. The terrorists are human beings, are also prone to different opinions, and can change if the right strategies to institute the change are adhered to.
