Write a classical argument (like essay 2) on your research topic. The organization plan is
on page 228 and the example essay is on 234-237. As we have discussed, make sure to
include—and to counter—opposing views. It is also a good idea to fully attribute your
sources, rather than simply citing them.
Research
In addition to the CQ report, I would recommend Academic OneFile, Academic Search
Premier, LexisNexis Academic, do-gov websites, and/or Summit (books). You may use
sources outside these options, but they will not count as one of your minimum three.
Avoid using additional CQ Researcher reports, because the information tends to repeat
and is also very broad. If in doubt, okay sources with me.
You must effectively utilize and cite at least 5 sources in your essay. Note that for the last
discussion you will have to provide evaluative annotated bibliography entries on at least
7 sources.
Cannibalizing the Delayed Thesis
Writing is a process in which you revisit and further develop ideas over time. With this
in mind feel free to reuse much of the delayed thesis essay in your classical argument.
Generally, doing so will require simply reorganizing, but don’t just drop material in the
new essay without revising sufficiently. For instance, delaying the thesis is similar to
confutatio, but it is not the same thing. In confutatio you need to more clearly counter
alternate views, though you are still fair to those views.
Overall, I will expect your ideas and arguments on your topic to be more developed and
insightful than in the delayed thesis. In other words, I will be grading harder.
Peer Feedback
Don’t forget to submit you’re a complete draft of your essay for peer feedback in a timely manner.

Evaluation
As always, I will be looking for focus, organization, support, proofreading, and challenge. The challenge for this essay will be research quality. Part of research quality is the general quality of the sources you use, and taking research from the options above will result in decent quality. Another part of research quality relies on your source introductions, which verify the quality of your sources to your audience.
Additionally, research quality relies upon the variety of views you present. Partly the variety can be shown through your transitions and attributive tags, making clear who agrees or disagrees with whom (remember your dialectical thinking). The other part of variety is choosing your sources well, beyond simply choosing them from a reliable database. Providing a fair amount of viewpoints in your research shows that you are not overlooking anything.
