Your paper is due Friday May 6, 2016 by midnight. The final persuasion application may take one of several forms. For instance, you could write a traditional term paper in which you elucidate each of at least two constructs, specify the manner in which they are related to one another and design a study to test your hypothesis or hypotheses. You could write a theoretical paper in which you advance a new explanation of a persuasion phenomenon. You could write a critical theoretical paper in which you first elucidate and then criticize a persuasion theory that has not yet been rejected by the academic community. You could write a methodological paper in which you criticize a commonly used method of studying persuasion phenomena and then offer a more useful alternative. Alternatively, you could write a more applied piece. For example, you could write an applied paper in which you apply either a theory or an empirical generalization(s) to a social problem. You could discuss the persuasive tactics used in a political, advertising or public service campaign. You could do an extensive case study of a particularly effective or ineffective persuasion agent. Regardless of the type of paper you write it will be evaluated using five equally weighted criteria: The quality of your arguments, clarity, comprehensiveness, documentation and organization. This paper must contain at least 5 legitimate resources outside of the textbook (These references can be an empirical article, a trusted news source… etc. Wikipedia and “John Smith’s” blog are not considered legitimate sources) and be between 8-10 pages not including the title page, summary and references. The paper must adhere to APA format as outlined in the following text: American Psychological Association (2009, July).
