ABORTION
Abortion simply means the removal of the unborn baby at any stage of life where it might have developed as fetus or embryo. There are many views concerning abortion by different scholars, religions, governments on whether abortion should be allowed to take place freely or not. Abortion in human beings occurs due to the three main reasons: to safe the life of the pregnant mother, miscarriages and to protect ones status such as when one gets pregnant out of marriage. In all cases there is an end of life be it a good reason or not. There are advantages that follow up due to this act, while at the same time there are a number of disadvantages involved inclusive on the risks. The following discussion is an argument on whether to go the abortion or not in which the rights of the unborn child must be protected by saving his life giving reasons on either way, (Norgren & Norgen 2001).
The big question on abortion is what could happen if all mothers decide to terminate their pregnancies in the name of unwanted. What also could happen to the population because it means there would be no future generations to live while at the same time no one would be alive if our mothers decided to terminate our lives. Life of all human beings begins at the conception as without it then no one could be alive and therefore terminating pregnancy at any stage be it be after one hour of conception is simply referred to as murder. There are many risks someone gets prone to due to the termination of a pregnancy. There have been also reported cases of psychological problems where the woman gets depression as a result of guilt. Out of the guilt many have ended up taking away of their lives at the end, whereas many have complained of going through hallucinations where they hear the voices of the child they terminated, (Zastrow & Kirst- Ashman, 2009).
There are other health problems which evolve as a result of this exercise. One can get infections during the process and at the same time there might be continuous occurrence of the miscarriages while the worst of it all is when the woman loses her life during the process. After carrying out an abortion, one may not be in a position to conceive any other time in life even when she is in need of the child. This sometimes does happen when the womb of the woman is removed during the exercise which in turn causes guiltiness, conflicts in the families and societal rejection. Where as in religious perspective, this is like taking the responsibility of the creator who has the control of death and life by deciding to end a life of someone else, (Norgren & Norgen 2001).
On the other hand however, abortion may be preferred because of different reasons. In case the life of the mother is at risks due to different health problems then the abortion becomes important. This happens when the doctors confirm that the life of a mother is at risk for instance when a girl aged 12 years gets pregnant such that she may not have the capacity to carry the pregnancy for 9 months or be in a position to give birth. Incases where there are occurrences of rape, the victim involved may not be in position to cater for the pregnancy, and also the child by the fact that she hadn’t planned on the same, therefore abortion seems the best option. In view of career development, many teenagers gets pregnant while still in school which has led to many of them not being in position to continue with education, (Zastrow & Kirst- Ashman, 2009).
Due to the technology developments it has been possible to detect any complications that the unborn might have. When the unborn is detected to suffer from a serious health problem that might make him to suffer in the life time then abortion becomes appropriate at this point. When abortions are restricted there rises many cases of illegal abortions which in many cases are unsafe and leads to several deaths and further health complications. This can however be avoided by legalizing the act while letting the mother involved to make her own decision since it is her life at stake. Through abortion restrictions many children are are said to have suffered in the name that they were born through unwanted pregnancy thus living a miserable life full of frustrations, (Norgren & Norgen 2001).
To sum it all, the point on whether to legalize abortion or not has been left at the hands of different societies in relation to the societal norms. It’s true that the trauma can be associated in both sides where when one is forced to give birth to the unwanted pregnancy or when one carries out an abortion. There are many societies who have legalized the act while others it’s illegal to carryout the act, and a few don’t mind about the issue and there is nothing to discus about the case. Abortion therefore has its benefits and risks involved. For whichever good reasons however, exercising abortion has no enough reasons as to why it should be carried. Everybody has the right to life, whether in good health or not as we all accept that we don’t have much control of our body systems with all the scientific knowledge, the all control lies on the hand of the creator, (Zastrow & Kirst- Ashman, 2009).
At the same time it is selfish where as one decides to terminate a life to safeguard ones status. Parents do force their daughters to carry out an abortion if they weren’t married to enhance a good name to the family. At the same time even when the technology has detected that the unborn would be physically challenged it’s not still unfair to abort the child. The disabled people have also been known to carryout important roles in the society, where the disability is not the inability for instance, there are different professionals who are disabled. On financial status it’s only through handwork that we attain wealth and so financial instability should not be a factor to commit abortion, one need to work hand and take up the responsibility. Finally it is better to deny freedom so as to protect a life of someone, (Norgren & Norgen 2001).
