 Despite an inauspicious start to Myanmar’s new post-junta phase, a series of reforms in the months since the new government took up office has led to hopes that decades of international isolation could be coming to an end.
Portfolio Exercise
Please discuss, in general terms, how Myanmar might capitalise on this recent development to ensure success in the global market.
Too Much to do?
It is only three years since Myanmar embarked on its experiment with democratic reform led by the president, Thein Sein, a former general and the bonanza of foreign investment some hoped for when Myanmar, Asia’s last frontier, opened its doors has not really materialised. (The Economist, Sept 2014)

Foreign Direct Investment
Myanmar Energy Security is aiming towards the path of sustainable economic development by providing an affordable and reliable energy supply to all consumers, especially to those living in remote areas that are currently without electricity – Is this achievable?
Politics, Corruption, Ethics
Clause 59(f)?
Fully 100,000 signatories, it claimed, opposed change either to Clause 59(f), or to provisions that guarantee the armed forces 25% of the seats in parliament. By contrast, allegedly a mere 592 signatories favoured scrapping the clause.
